Apple products are highly anticipated by users all over the world and for iPhone 5s and 5c there was nothing less. Apple launched both the products on September 10th at an event at their Headquarter. Recently Apple announced iPhone 5s and 5c will be available in India from November 1. The product went to sale in the US market on 20th September and with latest announcement iPhone 5s and 5c will be available in 50 countries including India, Italy, Spain, and Russia.
Recently the iphone 5s was available in India through unofficial channel for whooping one lakh rupees. But with this announcement the phone will now available through channel partners and other retail outlets. Though iPhone 5s won’t have any real competition but Nokia, HTC, Sony etc have their premium phones lined up and they may offer some feeble resistance. The supposedly “cheaper” iPhone 5c will replace current iPhone 5, the phone comes in various colors and some solid technical specification. Though pricing details are not yet given but it is believed that iPhone 5s will be priced anywhere upward of Rs 50,000 and iPhone 5c will be priced above Rs 30,000. Though Apple considers 5c to be in mid-range but in India some of the premium phones are offered in that pricing segment. It was alleged that iPhone 5c was developed for emerging markets like China and India but looking at the price in the International market this turns to be untrue.
According to Indian tech blog Tech2 the 16 GB version of 5c is being sold in the range of 38,000 to 40,000 and that of 5s is being sold for 55,000. At present the prices seems to ridiculously high but after the official launch on November 1 the prices will stabilize. Apple sold close to 9 million iPhone 5s & 5c in the opening weekend of its sales that is a spectacular numbers by any standards. India is also a favorable market for Apple products but we need to wait till the first sales figure report after the launch on November 1.
