  • Drupal.org Hacked – Passwords Compromised
altThe hackers are having a field day in 2013, every other day we hear some or the other website being getting hacked. Here we are talking about some of the world’s finest technological companies, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Microsoft etc. In the recent addition to this list is Drupal, one of the world’s most popular open source content management systems. The company says that some group or an individual got access to the accounts on drupal.org. Though there is no word on when the attack exactly took place or how many the hacker compromised. But if sources are to be believed there are nearly one million account holders. As a precautionary measure the company has told its users to reset their passwords.

It has also emerged that the accounts of users of groups.drupal.org have also been compromised. The report of the hack was posted on the company’s website along with the things users need to do to protect their account. The attack was discovered while performing routine security check on the websites the company say the attack was the result of third-party software and not due to the vulnerability of Drupal itself. The hackers got access to various types of information including user names, e-mail addresses, country information and hashed password. Drupal added that since the company does not store financial information like credit card detail, banking detail and account detail these data of users should be safe.

The hacker may use this opportunity to send you mail seeking personal information threatening to close the account if details are not provided.
