  • YouTube hits Magical 1 Billion Monthly Hits
altYoutube the video sharing website has announced that it has hit the magical number of 1 billion hits per month. The announcement was posted on the blog, it further said that if “YouTube were a country, we’d be the third largest in the world after China and India”. This announcement came exactly after 6 months of YouTube hitting 1 Billion users. Launched in February 2005, Youtube took almost 7 years to get this number. When Google bought YouTube in 2006 for $1.65 Billion it had a user base of 50 million and at that time number like this was very substantial.

When Google offer came YouTube was not making any money yet due to the vast user base the deal became one of the highly talked about event in the internet space. Google’s effort paid when last year in 2012 Youtube announced that it had revenue of $1.3 billion through video advertising. YouTube claim that out of two internet user worldwide one the regular visitor of youTube for video. Last year YouTube registered 1 billion video hits for Korean singer Psy’s Gangnam style video today the same video has almost 1.5 billion views. With more and more visiting YouTube for searching videos the prospect of generating revenue through paid advertising seems great.
